As a volunteer with the Ohio Student Association (OSA) Cleveland chapter, I contributed design and communication work to support the Cuyahoga County Jail Coalition's efforts to address systemic injustices within the county jail system.

After nine tragic, preventable deaths within a year and an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service calling conditions at the jail "inhumane", the Coalition organized action campaigns to demand better conditions, alternatives to incarceration, and a community-centered approach to justice and rehabilitation.

My contributions centered on creating compelling visuals and resources to amplify the campaign’s message and mobilize support. I designed flyers, campaign graphics, and shareable social media content to clearly communicate the Coalition’s demands and calls to action.

For OSA specifically, I created business cards to help volunteers recruit others to weekly meetings, strengthening their organizing efforts and expanding their base.

Additionally, I designed a trifold brochure for the Jail Coalition that outlined its mission, goals, and demands, and later created a postcard for their “Compassion Over Cages” campaign to encourage community members to advocate for care over incarceration.

Another key project I did was a Digital Action Toolkit, which included a online petition, sharable social media graphics, click-to-tweet messages, and scripts for contacting legislators—providing supporters with actionable steps to influence change.
This included an email campaign with a call-to-action from the toolkit to be done every week of November.
My contributions not only supported the Coalition's grassroots campaigns but also advanced OSA's mission to empower young people to drive meaningful local change.
As communications lead, I showcased the transformative power of creative storytelling in grassroots movements, amplifying critical issues and equipping communities with the tools to advocate for systemic reform.

To further support the efforts of the Cuyahoga County Jail Coalition, I captured video and photography at actions to document the movement’s momentum, as well as generate fresh content either for print, web or social media to inspire online engagement.
