As Marketing and Communications Manager at the Morgan Conservatory, I developed and led all public-facing strategies across digital, print, and community platforms. My work supported the organization’s exhibitions, workshops, residencies, fundraisers, and educational programs.

I collaborated closely with each department to understand their goals and used marketing tools to help them succeed. This included increasing workshop sign-ups and recruiting new teaching artists, promoting exhibitions to drive attendance and foot traffic, showcasing community partnerships for funders and grant opportunities, and highlighting visiting artists through multi-platform promotion. I handled all aspects of execution, including email campaigns, website updates, photo documentation, social media, print collateral, and event listings across external platforms.

Living Mentors: A Teaching Artist Exhibition

Shortly after I started in February 2023, I introduced a new approach to the Morgan’s digital presence, particularly on Instagram and Facebook, with a focus on video content creation and designing engaging graphics. We reached 7,000 followers by June 2023 and grew to over 8,100 by May 2024 — a 16% increase without paid ads in under 17 months. I also implemented strategies to grow our email list and promote membership through consistent communications, targeted campaigns, and segmented messaging for members and the public.

One of my most meaningful contributions was launching a branded livestream series for the Artist-in-Residence program. I created a cohesive visual identity, trained staff to support the series, and produced 17 talks featuring national and regional artists. Each talk was streamed live on both Facebook and Instagram, providing artists with greater reach and promotional content while increasing the accessibility and longevity of their presentations. I also collaborated with the gallery manager to move the talks to a more accessible midday time slot, which improved both turnout and online engagement.

In addition to digital work, I created and managed printed promotional materials for the Morgan’s programs and events. I researched and designed educational signage for the Morgan’s outdoor garden, where raw materials for papermaking are cultivated.
This project involved learning each step of the traditional Eastern papermaking process and documenting all the botanicals grown in the garden, distilling it into accessible language for a wide audience, and designing educational signage.

I also developed a modular trifold brochure system that could be adapted seasonally or by event. For the Morgan’s two main fundraisers — the summer Kozo Benefit Dinner and the annual Morgan Rising event in the fall — I designed custom inserts for the brochure. These included a dinner menu and a stamp card that encouraged attendees to visit demo stations and enter a raffle, which increased participation and supported overall event flow.

I also wrote six articles for CAN Journal, a quarterly arts publication, each highlighting upcoming exhibitions, workshops, and programs at the Morgan. These articles were written a season in advance and contributed to broader visibility across the Cleveland arts community.
To support specific projects, I interviewed and supervised three interns for short-term marketing, social media, and design assignments. They worked within clearly defined goals and timelines and collaborated with other staff to meet departmental needs. I managed their workload, provided creative direction, and helped them align their deliverables with organizational standards

This role required both creative leadership and strong execution. I learned how to build marketing systems from the ground up, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, and support the needs of a multifaceted team. It deepened my commitment to accessible, mission-driven storytelling and sharpened my ability to lead communications across platforms with care and clarity.
